Battle Proven Capability
The Lightweight Multi-role Missile (LMM) is a lightweight, precision strike, multirole missile. LMM is designed to be fired from a variety of tactical platforms on land, air, and sea against a wide range of conventional and asymmetric threats, including armoured personnel carriers (APC), fast in-shore attack craft (FIAC) and UASs. The precision laser beam riding guidance system allows for low collateral damage, meaning that LMM is optimised for operation in an urban environment. At Mach 1.5 with a range in excess of 6km, equipped with a triple effect warhead and proximity fuse, LMM is a lethal battle proven asset.
Truly Versatile
LMM can be deployed on a wide range of versatile platforms from standalone to portable, or integrated on fire control systems such as RAPIDRanger to provide close range air defence capabilities to protect against surface and air threats. Due to the triple effect warhead, LMM provides excellent lethality against conventional and asymmetric threats including APCs, wheeled and tracked vehicles.
In the maritime environment, the major challenge to conventional missiles is engaging FIAC threats, due to their high mobility, small signature and severe background clutter. Thales’ unique laser beam riding guidance system enables LMM to be accurately and securely guided in these difficult conditions to defeat FIAC targets at the extended ranges needed to protect ships against their swarm tactics.
