The UAS100 long range drone draws from Thales’s considerable expertise in aerospace technology, making it the best solution for many applications such as coastal & border surveillance, law enforcement security, linear infrastructure, windmill, offshore wind turbines and pipeline inspections. The UAS100 meets the most stringent mission requirements in full compliance with general aviation BVLOS regulations. Its flight avionics combine the certified levels of flight safety and security that Thales offers to the traditional aviation sector with the low weight and compact design needed to integrate for integration on board small drones.
BVLOS long range drone for multiple applications
The UAS100 is optimised for long range BVLOS operations, and is ideal for drone inspection, surveillance and reconnaissance tasks. It provides that eye-in-the-sky capability that is a real game changer for such activities. Among its many benefits, the UAS100 decreases human workload, reduces overall life cycle, cost and significantly saves time.
Employed as security UAV, the UAS100 offers a perfect alternative to surveillance tasks, such as border patrol or coastal monitoring, by replacing helicopters or fixed wing aircraft often more complex and expensive to operate.
Providing a birds-eye view, drones in agriculture help preserving sensitive areas such as forest, national parks and livestock monitoring, sometimes difficult to reach or requiring extensive area to cover.
Aerial drones are key enablers for global ecological transition. Considering global warming, it is our duty to reduce fuel consumption and Thales is committed to positively contribute to global reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and improve our future.
Safe long range drone operations
As a long range drone the UAS100, can fly up to 200 linear kilometers. It is equipped with a hybrid propulsion system, allowing discretion, limited carbon footprint and resilience to failures. It incorporates avionics that combine the safety of certified aeronautical solutions with the lightness and compactness required for a drone. Thales & EASA are working jointly to unlock long range drone challenges, to operate autonomous operations over population (SAIL V and up).
The UAS100 system offers range capabilities with its jam-resistant navigation system, enabling safe operation even in dense or cluttered electromagnetic environments. Powered by two electric motors as well as an internal combustion engine, the UAS100 operates discretely over populated areas and achieves the necessary endurance and resilience to failure.
UAS100 additional payload
Thales’s UAS100 drone has a multi-payload capacity. It can be equipped with optronic turret, day/night vision, thermal vision, communication relay, RADAR, LIDAR, gas sensor, trunk or additional fuel tank.

UAV ground control station
The drone station requires only one supervisor thus reducing crew mobilization and team workload. During flight, information update in real-time and automatic safety checks (weather, obstacle, no fly zone) contribute to success of every mission. Data are stored to a private cloud to guaranty high level of protection and integrity.
The ground control station provides many features to ensure safe and lawful operations. The most important and critical moment for long scale operations is the flight preparation and Thales’s ground control station allows cyber-secured remote processing on cloud with its state-of-the-art mission preparation platform, ScaleFlyt. This ensures reliability and integrity through wholly integrated mission planning and flight control tools. Using a multi-layer interface that displays all necessary information, the operator can automatically create optimized routes based on defined points of interests, load pre-stored routes, predefined patterns (hold, SAR, mapping) and compute optimized contingency pathways. Automatic compliance checks (population density, No Fly Zone, terrain, obstacles, and weather forecast) and direct UTM/ATM connection for FPLN (flight plan) authorization requests significantly reduce the workload during this phase.
During the flight, the ground control station offers all the features to make Flight supervision as safe and easy as possible, needing only a single supervisor (high integrity verifications of the pathways sent to the drone, avionics-based Flight Crew Interface, Flight warning function, automatic recovery and decision aid in case of failure).
The supervisor can also pilot the payload and monitor mission data in real time. Live broadcast and private cloud storage draw from Thales’s excellence in cyber security to ensure the highest level of protection and integrity, supplemented by powerful data analytic functions and direct access to your most valuable data.
