Best-selling biometric scanners
Thales Cogent Fingerprint Scanners capture high-quality images in a fast, reliable, and easy-to-learn way.
The advanced optical system enhances ambient light rejection while permitting the capture of quality fingerprints from stained, marked, or dark fingers.
Thales Cogent fingerprint scanners are available in various models that capture flat fingerprints, slap fingerprints, and even palm prints.
The scanners use a USB connection for data transfer and power, eliminating excess cables and enabling easy integration into new or existing applications.
The result?
The durable, lightweight, and ergonomic design allow the scanners to be portable without compromising image quality.
Software development kits are built on Cogent's proven biometric technologies, and biometric applications such as fingerprint capture, quality check, WSQ compression, 1:1 verification, and 1:N identification are available to integrate any CSD scanners into third-party applications easily.
1. Biometric scanners for enrollment
Thales Cogent Multi finger Scanner Dactyscan84c and Thales Cogent Multi finger Scanner CS500f are compact and FBI application F certified 10-print livescan in full compliance with the “10-print capture scanner & software User group requirements” suitable for all applications in need of 4-slaps and rolled acquisition.
A user interface based on 12 LEDs facilitates the acquisition procedure by indicating the fingerprint(s) to be acquired and providing quality feedback.
The main applications are e-ID document enrollment, voter registration, and border control applications.
There's more.
After a strong effort in terms of research and development, Thales, in collaboration with an international company, has developed the Thales Cogent Finger Liveness Detection Solution, which can be used to identify spoofing attempts in case of unattended installations.
This solution is software-based and requires no hardware upgrade for the installed base.
The software package, “GB_FFD,” is fully integrated into the standard MultiScan_SDK, starting from v. 4.0.
2. Biometric scanners for verification and authentication
Biometric authentication compares data for the person's characteristics to that person's biometric "template" to determine resemblance.
- The reference model is first stored in a database or a secure portable element like a smart card.
- The data stored is then compared to the person's biometric data to be authenticated. Here it is the person's identity that is being verified.
In this mode, the question is: "Are you, indeed, Mr or Mrs X?"
Thales Cogent Single Finger Scanner DactyID20 is an optical compact single-finger livescan FBI/PIV certified offering a superior built-in fake finger detection system.
This makes the Cogent Single Finger Scanner DactyID20 the best choice, especially for unattended applications like kiosks, pc/network login, time and attendance, etc.
The Cogent Single Finger Scanner DactyID20 can encrypt user data with the AES-128 algorithm by using an internally stored and settable key by the application. This product is suitable for dual-factor verification applications.
Thales Cogent Fingerprint Scanner CSD101i is a single-digit fingerprint scanner in a durable, compact casing. The advanced Thin Optical Touch sensor is immune to ambient light. Two bright indicator-LED lights help users operate and place the finger at the appropriate time to avoid confusion. The Cogent Fingerprint Scanner CSD101i performs on-board processing of the captured fingerprint image and signing and encrypting the UIDAI-specified Personal Identity Data (PID) block.
Powered by USB 2.0, the connection allows easy integration with new or existing applications. The durable, lightweight, and ergonomic design enables the Cogent to Single Finger Scanner DactyID20 and Cogent Fingerprint Scanner CSD101i to be portable without compromising image quality.
3. Biometric scanners for identification
Biometric identification consists of determining the identity of a person.
The aim is to capture an item of biometric data from this person. It can be a photo of their face, a record of their voice, or an image of their fingerprint.
This data is then compared to the biometric data of several other persons kept in a database.
In this mode, the question is simple: "Who are you?"
4. Fingerprint scanners for law enforcement
Law enforcement biometrics refers to applications of biometric systems that support law enforcement agencies.
This category can include criminal ID solutions such as Automated Fingerprint (and palm print) Identification Systems (AFIS). They store, search and retrieve fingerprint images and subject records.
Thales Cogent Palm Scanner MultiScan527 and Thales Cogent Palm Scanner MultiScan527g offer superior image quality and matchless acquisition speed.
Cogent Palm Scanner MultiScan527/527g acquire not only 10-prints, rolls, and half-palms but also all types of supplemental prints as per FBI EBTS Appendix P standard: rolled thenar (ball of palm) and hypo-thenar (writer's palm), full finger flat and rolled (distal, medial and proximal) as well as rolled fingertip impressions.
With an integrated 3.5" color touchscreen with a 3.2'' full-colour LCD for user interface, finger, and palmprint acquisition can be driven directly from the device.
Acquisition mode, quality assessment, and other helpful feedback are provided to the operator directly on the LCD.
In 2021 Thales introduced a revolutionary scanner with a very innovative design, superior acquisition speed, and many different image acquisition enhancements in its portfolio. Thales Cogent Palm Scanner CS500q has been designed with very compact dimensions, a prism heater, and silicon membranes to acquire dry and consumed/altered fingerprints.
Cogent Palm Scanner is available in 4 different versions, and it will be the best fit according to the specifications/needs of every specific project.
Thales Cogent MultiScan Software Development Kit (SDK)
Thales' whole Livescan product line is supported by the same and most featured rich SDK, the Software Development Kit (SDK), thus eliminating the need for multiplied integration efforts due to different SDKs.
The SDK is “free of charge” and includes free updates/upgrades over the complete product life cycle.
Two versions of the SDK are available:
- the Basic version (addressing major integrators, having many SW features already implemented in their final application, thus needing only image acquisition and drivers)
- the Full Enhanced version (addressing small/medium integrators needing enhanced SW features to cut development costs and save resources).
Both Basic and Full Enhanced are available with Rolled Fingerprint support.
Main Features:
- Available for the complete Thales Cogent Livescan portfolio
- Multiplatform (Supported platforms = x86-32, x86-64, ARM; operating systems = Windows 32/64 bit on X86, Linux on 86 and ARM, Android on ARM)
- Slide Detection for Flat Prints
- Correct Position Check
- Artefact Detection
- Adaptative roll area positioning
- Dry Finger Image Enhancement
- GB_FFD software-based fake fingerprint detection
- Image and data encryption
