Making sure that on-board systems and equipment are always ready for action, whenever they are needed
Equipment availability is absolutely vital for military vehicle commanders and crew. They need every single component of their platforms – including key on-board optronics devices such as sights and sensors – to perform as required, whenever they are needed, in order to keep crews and vehicles safe, and enable them to complete their missions successfully.
This is where Thales’s vehicle optronics support and service options come in: our offering is designed to help ensure that the state-of-the-art Thales products on board users’ platforms – targeting & surveillance, DVE/LSA, and protection systems and equipment – are in tip-top condition, and always ready for action.
Thales offers a complete range of service and support solutions for its vehicle optronics products in service with armed forces around the world, enabling users to choose the combination of services and level of support that they need.
Our performance-based service and support contracts offer greater transparency on costs, as well as guaranteed turnaround times, giving users peace of mind, and enabling them to draw even more effectively on the knowledge and experience of our in-house experts. Some contract services can be provided exclusively by in-country Thales entities, where applicable.
Even users without a maintenance agreement can access our custom-tailored on-demand services – encompassing spare parts delivery, upgrades, on-site diagnostics and repairs as well as conventional return-to-base repairs – whenever they need to.
Transfer of maintenance
Thales can also organiser transfer of maintenance to a selected industrial partner if required, alleviating sovereignty concerns for countries and armed forces, and giving them local autonomy. Transferring maintenance capabilities also removes the need to return equipment to base for repairs, allowing users to manage turnaround times, while avoiding export controls.
Digital services
Thales’s service and support solutions also include a range of digital services, which allow us to work with users to plan maintenance operations, deliver support for on-site maintainers, and manage data on vehicle platforms and fleets, much more effectively than in the past.
Greater reliance on digital capabilities like these allows us to further expand our offering in predictive maintenance, with all the associated benefits for users. Other innovations include increased use of “projectable” maintenance capabilities to allow intermediate-level maintenance (ILM) activities to be carried out as close to the action as possible.
Thales listens to its customers. First and foremost, they just want the optronics systems and equipment on board their vehicles – such as sighting systems and LSA sensors – to perform as expected in the field, every time, so that they can keep their soldiers safe, and complete their missions successfully.
Over the longer term, customers also want us to keep track of equipment and skills obsolescence issues, while managing the cybersecurity implications of the increased use of digital services. With Thales’s service and support solutions, combined with our leading-edge capabilities in cybersecurity, we are in an ideal position to do all this, and more.
Time-honoured expertise
Thales has 25 years’ experience of supporting complex products that employ a range of different technologies, from independently stabilised commanders’ sights to cooled thermal imagers for long-range surveillance and target acquisition.
Thanks to our global presence, our experts’ track record, and our array of solutions and capabilities, Thales is perfectly positioned to make sure users get the through-life support they need to keep their vehicle platforms ready for action at all times.
