EDISOFT is selected as technological systems integrator for the new Portuguese Oceanic Patrol Vessels (OPV)
To execute this contract, EDISOFT joined with the shipyard West Sea. The consortium is expected to deliver these vessels during the second half of 2018.
The new OPVs will be equipped with EDISOFT´s Integrated Information System, already in use in the NRP Viana do Castelo and NRP Figueira da Foz. This product will be responsible for the comprehensive and integrated management of all on-board systems, acting as the vessel´s information backbone.
EDISOFT will also supply the Integrated Platform Management System - IPMS, used for real-time monitoring, command and control of nearly all vessel platform systems and subsystems, including the propulsion system, electric power generation system and others.
The navigation system is also part of the scope of supply. This system aims at making navigation data fully available to all bridge workstations and steering positions. It includes the integrated bridge, accommodating the IPMS, the conning and navigation consoles.
Additionally, EDISOFT will also provide these new OPV’s with the aircraft visual aids system composed by dedicated aircraft illumination control units. Among other features, this system will make information available to pilots about glide slope, longitudinal and transversal vessel balance, illumination and delimitation of the landing platform.
For the successful execution of this project EDISOFT will strongly rely on Thales Group´s vast naval engineering experience. Having a unique background in naval and maritime affairs, and an intimate understanding of naval market needs, Thales brings to our naval forces and maritime agencies world-class expertise in systems integration, a commitment to partnership with local industries, and a proven track record, including more than 50 client navies and coastguards and more than 500 warships equipped.
