Adapt to the new tachograph regulations
For more than ten years, Thales has contributed to numerous tachograph projects that now extend to 41 different countries.
The acquisition of Trüb in 2015 brought together the two leading companies offering tachograph card solutions.
This long and broad experience ensures the smooth running of new tachograph projects and the efficient achievement of mandatory certifications and type approvals.
Thales Tachograph Cards create a complete product offering, designed to meet all the new requirements set by EU tachograph regulations.
Depending on the customer's individual needs, Thales Tachograph Cards is available either:
- as microcontroller modules on a reel,
- as raw tachograph smart cards in any of the four application profiles,
- or personalized cards with holders' individual personal information.
The Thales contact-based tachograph can withstand intensive usage and harsh environmental conditions such as pronounced temperature changes or strong vibrations.
Thales works closely with Type Approval Authorities to ensure a smooth certification process and help you through the various stages of migration.
- In 2019, Thales supported 28 out of 32 countries during their migration from Digital to Smart Tachograph Version 1.
- A new version of Smart Tachograph (Version 2) was deployed by August 2023. Thales was engaged in early discussions to guarantee on-time availability of the new benefits expected from the new system.
Most durable and secure cards
Customers can count on Thales Premium PC, Thales smartcards manufactured from the most durable and secure polycarbonate with laser personalization, for exceptionally high reliability and security level.
There is a straightforward fact to prove this.
Reports by MEBA, the international association of the tachograph card issuing authorities, show that Thales tachograph cards' return rates are much lower than the average for all smartcards in the field (well below 1% for Thales vs. around 4% overall).
