Thales in Serbia

Thales Group is a long-standing strategic partner in air traffic control and in the field of tactical communications. Since 2008, Thales has signed several contracts with the Serbian Ministry of Defense for the supply of HF and VHF tactical radios.

Thales is the main supplier of the SMATSA (Serbia and Montenegro Air Traffic Services Agency) for the control center and associated equipment (radars, simulators) since 2007. In 2020, despite the COVID-19 situation, Thales was awarded a new contract for the modernization of its air traffic control center and the purchase of civil radars. As part of the modernization of Belgrade airport, Thales has been chosen by VINCI as the supplier of ILS (Instrument Landing System).

Thales has been supplying chips for the Serbian national bank ZIN (NBS TIN – state security printer) for several years, used for the different types of identity cards for the Republic of Serbia. Thales is offering the latest generation technologies and a first contract was signed in 2020 in this context (TBC).
