O3b – the Other 3 billion
The company O3b Networks has launched a tremendous initiative in the form of O3b (the "Other 3 billion"), a constellation designed to bridge the digital divide by supplying broadband Internet connectivity to emerging markets in Asia, Africa and the Middle East. Thales Alenia Space built the 12 satellites in the constellation, launched in three groups of four satellites, between the first quarter of 2013 and the end of 2014.
