World 1st 3D vertebroplasty performed using a Surgivisio system equipped with a Pixium 2630s detector integrated into a C-ARM
Thales Microwave and Imaging Sub-system supports its customers and healthcare professionals in the most decisive moments to advance innovation in the field of radiology and health.
This Thursday December 14, the University Hospital Center of Grenoble has carried out an unprecedented operation: for the first time in the world, a vertebroplasty was practiced thanks to a Surgivisio system of 3D imaging. Tested by Pr. Tonetti's department, the Surgivisio system made it possible to operate a patient with a sacral fracture, the lower part of the vertebral column, by percutaneous cement implantation.
This system allows reconstructing in 3D images, several radiographs acquired using the Pixium 2630s detector developed by Trixell teams, thus making possible real-time surgical navigation and opening the way for minimally invasive orthopedic and traumatological surgeries.
