Strong air traffic growth means that we must develop new VHF communications techniques. There is an urgent need for new voice channels, and for higher rates, integrity and security in data transmission systems.
Communications are at the heart of the future CNS/ATM environment, which will bring a significant improvement in air traffic management.
To increase voice capacity in Europe, frequency spacing has been reduced from 25 kHz to 8.33 kHz. A different approach is being studied in the United States, involving digitizing voice traffic and using time division multiple access (TDMA).
The increase in data transmission capacity is supported by the development of new ATN (Aeronautical Telecommunication Network) protocols, which allow data rates up to 31.5 kbps in a single VHF channel, known as VHF Data Link Mode 2 (VDL 2).

The EVR* 716/750 was developed in full compliance with ARINC 716 and 750.
It offers both 25 kHz and 8.33 kHz channel spacing, as well as all ACARS and VHF Digital Link (VDL) data transmission modes, based on the new CSMA and TDMA techniques.
