Thales Flight Inspection Service is responsive, flexible, cost-effective, and 100% reliable. And it has to be. Because when it comes to calibrating ground navigation aids and satellite-based flight procedures, you can’t afford to put safety second or make mistakes.
We’ve assembled a highly qualified team of pilots and flight inspectors with long experience and deep expertise. A team that continues to achieve the highest levels of safety, accuracy, and quality.
It explains why an increasing number of UK civilian airport operators and air traffic management organisations, along with the Ministry of Defence (MOD), trust us to help them meet their regulatory obligations – efficiently and cost-effectively.
But more than that, our extensive knowledge both of pilot and controller interpreted aids means that as well as calibration services, our customers also rely on us to provide technical advice and support tailored to the varying expectations and needs of civil and defence organisations.
Here's what sets us apart:
- A 100% safety record – UK-based flight inspection service with a 100% safety record, at home and internationally. It’s a record we’re rightly proud of and aim to maintain. We’re also the only UK-based flight inspection organisation with an independently accredited Flight Safety Management System and an LRQA-accredited ISO 18001 Health and Safety Management System.
- Sustainable operations – the only UK-based CAP 670 approved flight inspection organisation accredited by LRQA to ISO 14001.
- Right first time, on time – with LRQA-accredited ISO 45001 Project Management systems and processes, we deliver on time and right first time.
- Flexible approach – we adapt our services, for example, to fit in with your tender processes, accommodate unforeseen changes in the weather, or to meet any out-of-hours or emergency requirements you might have.
- Cost-effective – we focus on identifying time and cost savings, combining expertise and advanced technologies to streamline your operations, ensuring optimal performance and reducing unnecessary expense.
- Collaborative mindset – we work closely with you to ensure our services meet with your specific requirements. Even more, we’re focused on helping you meet your flight inspection obligations swiftly, smoothly, and always cost-effectively.
- Trusted – we’re the only UK-based CAP 670 organisation able to provide real-time results to airports. We’re approved by the UK CAA Safety Airspace Regulation Group, the UK MOD, and the Air Safety Support International OTAR Part 173 for UK Overseas Territories.
- Experienced – our 10-person team has very little staff turnover and more than over 130 years’ combined experience in flight inspection services and management. This makes us one of the most seasoned in the world.
- Strong foundations – our service and approach has the full financial and technological backing of Thales in the UK, a leading technology, engineering and innovation company to aerospace, defence, and transport customers.
- Fully capable – our mixed fleet of aircraft enable greater task flexibility, providing capability for tasks requiring high-level, long-range and/or high-speed profiles, as well as profiles requiring low-level and high-endurance.

Our flight inspection service extends to both civil and military customers including:
- Aquila Air Traffic Management Services
- A growing number of UK Civil Airports, including Belfast City, Belfast International, Farnborough, Liverpool, and Newcastle
