The Micro TMA HRDL (High Rate Data Link) is a resilient and compact software-defined radio device that is ideally suited to the latest robotics and video streaming applications from aircraft. 

The HRDL family provides different configurations and options tailored to specific operational requirements. This includes variable bandwidth and range options, real-time transmission capabilities, advanced management features, and integration options with other communication systems and networks.

The multipath advantage

In urban environments in particular, signals transmitted by drones can be disrupted as they bounce off obstacles such as buildings and vehicles, swamping transmissions with so-called multipath errors. The Micro TMA turns this problem into an advantage: the system’s powerful processor and unique algorithms improve transmission quality by combining and taking benefit from multipath signals in real time.

The MUM-T collaboration

Manned-Unmanned Teaming (MUM-T) is helping to boost operational efficiency and reduce human exposure to danger, for example by deploying a UAV to perform reconnaissance ahead of a crewed helicopter. The Micro TMA datalink features dedicated functionality for MUM-T applications.

The HRDL systems are robust and capable of operating in hostile environments. They are designed to withstand electromagnetic interference, adverse weather conditions, vibrations, and shocks.

Various Micro TMA-compatible ground-based antenna solutions are available to extend transmission ranges from 50 km to over 200 km. These systems enable the real-time transfer of large amounts of data. This includes the transmission of high-resolution videos, telemetry, vehicle tracking and monitoring, as well as other applications that require fast and reliable data transmission. The interoperability of the Micro TMA can involve various stakeholders and factors such as communication equipment, navigation systems, air traffic management procedures, and other related systems. It is crucial for these elements to operate seamlessly and interact effectively to ensure the safety and efficiency of air operations in airport proximity areas.
