Thales unveils new range of car park solutions

  • Thales unveils its all-new range of car park solutions, compatible with all types of technologies:    QR code, magnetic, contactless, license plate recognition, etc.
  • This connected equipment benefits from a sleek new design and new functionality for operators and motorists.
  • Parking charges are paid simply by presenting a smartphone or contactless payment card.

At Parkopolis, the biennial gathering for the world’s parking and mobility professionals starting tomorrow, Thales is unveiling its new range of car park solutions with added functionality.

The new Thales range is designed for enclosed aboveground and underground public parking facilities with entry and exit control barriers. All equipment in the range has been redesigned, from entrance and exit barriers to pedestrian access points, private parking areas and pay stations, with dynamic graphic display. The back office IT system, which allows supervision and generates the necessary reports, also boasts new functionality.

Drivers can now pay parking charges using any contactless method: payment card or smartphone with NFC (near-field communication) or Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). They can also pre-book a parking space in just a few clicks, using the Transcity™ Park app from Thales.

Operators can monitor parking facilities and identify problems or equipment faults from their smartphone.

The new range is also designed to boost revenues from all types of parking facilities — city, rail station, airport, shopping centre, hospital, etc. — by introducing variable fee schedules, based on the principle of yield management. Inspired by the hotel and air transport sectors, it uses a dynamic pricing policy derived from analysis of car park usage histories.

Thales is a major force in the car parking market and a leading partner of cities and semi-public companies, urban mobility players and large-scale operators in France.

The company has over 500 customers in France and has worked on projects in Europe (Luxembourg, Switzerland, Belgium, Italy, etc.) and internationally (Gautrain park-and-ride projects in South Africa, Dubai, etc.).

Thales is also involved in parking facility projects in urban areas and at airports (Paris, Montpellier, Bordeaux, Rennes, Fort-de-France/Martinique, Pointe-a-Pitre / Guadeloupe), retail centres and hospitals.
