DSA 2022
Welcome!
2021 marked Thales 40th anniversary in Malaysia.
Over the last four decades, Thales has played an instrumental part in supporting Malaysia’s defence ecosystem, as well as contributing high-technology solutions for the security, digital identity and transportation sectors.
In defence, we are proud to have contributed to the modernisation and digitalisation of the Malaysian Armed Forces, with our involvement in the three most important defence programmes in recent Malaysian history: the AV8 vehicles for the Army, the Ground-Based Air Defence systems for the Air Force, and systems on the Littoral Combat Ships for the Navy.
Throughout it all, our 200-strong Malaysian employees across sites in Kuala Lumpur, Kuantan, Lumut and Kota Kinabalu remained an unwavering support to the Armed Forces to deliver on our commitments, train our end-users and transfer technology. We were there for our customers even amidst the uncertainties of the last two years.
Covid-19 has been challenging for everyone, but as the world recovers and Malaysia opens up for business and growth, Thales is on-hand to partner our customers in this next journey ahead. We are proud to be present at DSA 2022 as it makes its comeback after 4 years to affirm our commitment to Malaysia.
As I lead the business for Thales in Malaysia, I am looking forward to reconnecting with our partners and highlighting the advanced technologies we can offer, especially in the realm of security in a post-pandemic environment. Do visit us at Level 2, Hall 6 – Stand #6078 where we can have a conversation on how Thales’ solutions can protect states, cities and critical infrastructures in our new future.
Yours sincerely,
Francois-Xavier BOUTES

Delivering Excellence in Critical Moments
To keep defence forces ever-ready in a world that is increasingly fast-moving and unpredictable, our mission-critical network and infrastructure systems are delivering more: more broadband, more mobility, more interoperability and more security.
Additionally, to tackle the evolving changes in awareness, human machine interface and sensor data sharing, Thales offers an intuitive, future-proof and truly reliable C4I infrastructure that creates a trustworthy baseline for every type of mission.
With our strong investment in research and development, and our expertise in command and control systems, we have developed SOTAS, the world-class multi-media vehicle system, and are arming our partners with the right tools designed for excellence, reliability and accuracy.
Revolutionising the Digital Battlefield
Leveraging the latest virtualization and orchestration technologies, our Tactical Battlefield Management System (T-BMS) provides forces with automatized reporting and graphical orders dissemination that is cyber-secure and tailored to their unique requirements.
From crucial command centres to remote theatres of operations, our flexible solutions enable information sharing and analysis across all terrains and all your crucial moments to help you maintain your operational edge.
Additionally, with our Cyber Defence solutions, Thales leverages the latest digital technologies to address the entire information security lifecycle – keeping the critical communications on the battlefield cyber-secured.
Airspace Protection & Airspace defence - From detection to threat neutralisation
Thales develops, manufactures and provides a full range of solutions from early warning to threat neutralisation, at all levels from very short to long-range systems to extended air defence. We work with our customers to address evolving threats and develop solutions to ensure timely decision-making and effective responses to protect military forces, key assets and citizens.
Air Surveillance
Airspace protection is only as effective as its sensors. To gain and maintain airspace sovereignty, Command and Control (C2) centres rely on surface radars to provide them with an accurate, 360°, up-to-date air surveillance picture; and as soon as a potential air threat is detected and identified, the relevant effectors can be selected and activated.
Our radars support your airspace protection missions everywhere and anywhere in the world, offering you a wide variety of range detection and missions from short, mid and long-range. The easy to deploy, tactical field proven Ground Master 400 Alpha long range radar is a reliable asset for forces looking for superior situational awareness and detection of all types of targets.
- Given the complexity of some missions means that relying on long-range radars for an accurate situational awareness of the airspace may be require additional resources. Whether to complement long-range radars in providing airspace protection behind masks or to provide Ground-Based Air Defence (GBAD) to deployed forces – or both – the Ground Master 200 (GM200) family has established itself as the family of multi-mission medium-range radar of choice around the world.
- The inclusion of naval radars from the NS-family (NS50, NS100 and NS200) in the surveillance network further enhances the recognized air picture from further away.
- The GM200-family and NS-family both share the 4D AESA technology that allows for early and small target detection both on land and at sea.
At the show learn also about the latest member of the Thales ground surveillance family, the Ground Observer 20 Multi-Mission (GO20 MM) – which brings a new dimension of detection for force camps, units on the battlefield or a column on-the-march. Featuring 360° 3D detection it can track and automatically classify a full threat spectrum - from UAVs in the low-level airspace to insurgents by foot, armed vehicles or helicopters in the upper level airspace – with one single mode.
End to end solutions
To counter traditional and new air threats, discover Thales’ Air Defence capability against all threats, ForceShield
This Ground-Based Air Defence solution is a fully coordinated Low Altitude Air defence System with a full control of the effectors all along the engagement.
It provides a tailored solution (Sensors / C2 / Fire Control / Effectors / Training & Support) adapted to customer needs and integrated with legacy customers systems.
Advanced Effectors
- Light-weight Multi-role Missile (LMM): A lightweight, precision strike, missile, which has been designed to be fired from a variety of airborne and ground tactical platforms, in surface, ground attack and air defence roles.
- STARStreak: For traditional fast moving air targets, designed to defeat both heavily armoured and light skin aerial targets. Its laser beam riding guidance enables precision engagement.
Providing actionable intelligence
In the world of airborne intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR), there is a need for accurate and timely acquisition of intelligence in sometimes-hostile environments.
Whether looking for small targets in rough terrain or providing surveillance for critical infrastructure and sensitive sites, Avni is an intelligent day/night wide-area surveillance system. It offers multiple configurations for deployment on a variety of airborne platforms including UAVs.
The TIMIX (Thales Intelligence Management and Imagery eXploitation) solution provides a complete data fusion and intelligence management capability to provide actionable intelligence in a timely fashion.
