A system to address all challenges of the security and combat service
The Thales communications network, which is based on the nationwide rolled-out TETRA technology, is the guarantor of the seamless implementation of the most important measures in the event of damage on board:
- Establishment of full situational picture
- Uninterrupted communication with all units on the ship
- Prevention of imminent danger to life and limb
- Ensuring and maintaining the command structure
- Effective management of the damage control, fire fighting and rescue teams
- Full functionality for conducting boarding operations or providing assistance at sea within a radius of 10 km around the mother vessel
- Fully compatible communication with civilian forces through the established interface for security authorities and organisations
Operational availability in critical situations
The error-prone oral alignment of the situational picture and the establishment of the situational picture with "grease stick and clamping board" by an officer belong to the past. All relevant facts are transmitted in full to the ship's command team in real time through the Thales DCFF communication network.
The automated display of the situational picture based on the platform-specific perspective plan of the ship with standardized symbolism provides the crew with a robust basis for decision-making at all times and ensures the ability of the ship's command team to act in any situation.
The ship's perspective plan and all information on the damage case are available on all tablets. In case a user loses their tablet, they may use any other device and retrieve all information in accordance with their user rights.
Data loss resulting, for example, from an incomplete or lost clamping board can thus be practically excluded.
Unique system-intrinsic interfaces with the respiratory protective devices of the fire fighting teams ensure best-in-class monitoring of the filling levels and are a prerequisite for the timely replacement of the air cylinders.
As a result the commanding officer is able to make the right decisions at any time and thus decisively minimize the risk to the crew and the damage control and fire fighting teams.
In addition, the Thales DCFF communications network ensures compliance with the requirements of all relevant Navy service regulations with regards to combating damage and the resulting documentation requirements.
Already integrated several times on board and in shore-based installations as a market-available system
With DCFF, Thales offers the only available wireless communications system on the market, which is already in service with the German Navy and, particularly, meets the high requirements of redundancy and system availability.
The system is in daily and successful service on the EGV class, on the frigate F125, as well as in shore-based facilities in Neustadt and Parow. Recently it was ordered for the corvette K130 (2nd batch) and in November 2020 for the frigate F126.
Therefore, Thales DCFF is already supporting the German Navy today in transforming their communication infrastructure into the digital age.
Thales Deutschland as a partner – Guarantor for customer satisfaction and use
Thales Deutschland with its headquarters in Ditzingen is one of the largest national organisations within the Thales Group and has around 2,000 employees at 9 locations with own production and development. In 2022, the company achieved a turnover of about 500 million Euro – mainly from German value creation. In its 140 years of history, Thales and its predecessor companies have equipped the German armed forces with radar, radio and navigation systems, and have maintained a trusting and productive cooperation with the Federal Armed Forces from the beginning.
A significant German value creation beyond system support during use can also be demonstrated by the German Thales subsidiaries with their own radar development and production.
