New Country Director appointed for Thales Hellas

Thales appoints Vincent Megaides as CEO and Country Director for Thales Hellas, covering Greece, Cyprus and Malta.

Vincent Megaides has been with Thales for 22 years and has held various positions within the Group. His roles count engineering positions, strategy and sales & marketing leadership roles.

Following a position as an algorithm & software engineer, Vincent Megaides has worked with bid and product line management for the Optronics business line in Paris. Following this, he was based in Sydney, Australia from 2010 to 2013, leading the defence business there.

From 2014 to 2020, he was in charge of the strategy, marketing and product policy within the Avionics Global Business Unit. Since 2020, he has been leading a worldwide team of sales executives in charge of the Optronics and Missile Electronics business line.

Vincent Megaides holds a Master of Engineering from the University of Paris XI and a Master of Business from HEC Paris.

Thales in Greece
Thales has been active in Greece for 50 years, expanding its historical presence in Defence, to serve Air Traffic Control, Transport and Space markets. Thales is long-standing partner to the Hellenic Armed Forces, providing avionics and mission systems for the Mirage 2000 and Rafale aicraft, as well as large-scale air defence systems for the Air Force and the Navy. Thales tactical radios, optronic systems and surveillance radars are also in service with the Army. Thales has also implemented the ACCS system in Larissa for NATO with its local engineers. Greek engineers are now deployed across Europe to support the system. Thales has supplied much of the country's air traffic control systems as transport solutions, including mainline signalling for the new rail line between Kiato and Rodonafini as well as supervision and communication systems for the Athens metro. In the Space domain, Thales also supplies the Hellasat 3 communications satellite, which entered into service in 2017. Thales is also a leader in civil identity and biometric solutions, standing ready to support Greece in the creation of a state-of-the art digital identity program.
Local cooperation
Thales supports an ecosystem of local industry partners in development projects for Greece and is an active member of industry organisations including SEV (Hellenic Federation of Enterprises), HASDIG (Hellenic Aerospace & Defence Industries Group) and EVIDITE (Greek Space Association). We are also an accredited supplier of defence systems to the Greek Ministry of Defence. Thales Hellas has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Hellenic Airforce Academy (HAFA) on July 2024.
