Combining the best of the consumer electronics and avionics technology worlds, Thales's Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) ruggedized tablet solutions are an industry benchmark, offering an instant and user-friendly interface with a wide scope of capabilities ranging from state-of-the-art applications to full-scale systems.
High Performance EFB Tablet for Pilots
The flagship solution is the Thales Pad, a Windows®-based tablet designed to provide pilots with the best possible device to enhance their situational awareness within a product that fully meets the demanding operational requirements of airline operations, far surpassing the performance levels of consumer world tablet.
Design for Cockpit Environment
Credential includes extended screen brightness range, anti-glare screen treatment and backlighted buttons, making the Thales Pad readable and accessible in all operating conditions, day and night. Its operating range also enables use in extreme temperature conditions (from -15°C to +55°C), ensuring maximum availability for pilots. The tablet is fully compliant with the relevant standards, including the DO-160 avionics environment standard, EFB AC 120-76C and AMC 20-25.
A Scalable Solution
For iPad users, Thales designed the Dock & Fly system, a smart and evolutive cradle solution that enables pilots to safely use their tablets, whenever needed. It includes a tablet shell ans a smart adaptor whith an included power convertor.
The mounting & power installation enables airlines to securely mounts their current and future EFB and provides it with power during all flight phases (compatible with both Thales Pad and Dock & Fly system). This mounting solution was designed to accommodate most common EFB tablets today and in the future with no impact on STC.
Connected Services
The natural extension of these systems and solutions is the AVIO application suite, delivered by AVIO, a Thales Group company, and designed to maximize the efficiency of aircraft and crews. It includes AvioBook, the Electronic Flight Bag application for pilots; AvioCabin, an application dedicated to cabin crew; AvioTech, an application dedicated to mechanics; and AvioConnect, a communication application that connects everyone around a flight.
