Thales hosts FACCI Space Technology Forum
On Tuesday 24 May, Thales hosted the French Australia Chamber of Commerce (FACCI) Space Technology Forum at our Eagle Farm site in Brisbane. FACCI is a not-for-profit organisation that aims to support the business relationship between Australia and France and the forum explored the benefits and transformational changes brought by the space industry to various industrial sectors here on Earth.
In attendance as a panellist for the event was Thales Australia’s Director of Space Business, Matt Dawson, representing Thales’ space business to an audience including Airbus, as well as a number of companies already operating or using technologies from the space sector such as Bayer Environment, SmartSat Services and Ozius. There was also attendance from a number of senior members of the Army including Brigadier Gregory Novak, Lieutenant Colonel Uliano Polatos and their staff.
The event was a great opportunity to raise the profile of Thales’ space capabilities to the local audience as well as showcase the work we do at Eagle Farm, with our Land Key Account Manager Sam McPhee in attendance as a representative for the site.
Feedback from those in attendance was exceptional, with many noting they were impressed the extent of capabilities of Thales in Australia, and globally. For many Industry attendees, it was the clean and organised Eagle Farm workshop (the result of many years of LEAN efforts) that left them in awe.
Thales Australia Director Space Systems, Matt Dawson said of the event
“It was a pleasure to participate in a panel to discuss how important Space infrastructure and services are to our everyday life, things that we take for granted and with Space becoming even more relevant to an increasing array of industries into the future. As a leader in Space based technologies, Thales – through Thales Alenia Space - is continuing to invest in developments across Earth Observation, Navigation, Telecommunications and Space Exploration. In Australia Thales Space is also working with a vast array of research institutions to collaborate on the development and commercialisation of emerging technologies relevant to the unique challenges in Australia."
The event was overall a resounding success, thanks to the insightful discussion afforded by the panellists and the hospitality of the Thales team at Eagle Farm.
